School Introduction |
Hebei University of Technology has a history of more than 120 years. School of Chemical Engineering & Technology is one of the largest Schools in Hebei University of Technology. It has the authority to grant master’s and doctor's degrees and a postdoctoral research station in the first-level discipline of Chemical Engineering and Technology (covering chemical engineering, chemical technology, biochemical engineering, applied chemistry, industrial catalysis, and other research areas), the authority to grant master’s degree in the first-level discipline of Chemistry and second-level discipline of Chemical Process Machinery, and the authority to grant master’s degree in engineering in the fields of materials and chemical engineering as well as biology and medicine. At present, the school has 166 graduate supervisors and 994 graduate students, undertakes a number of national and provincial research projects every year. Besides, it has sufficient scientific research funds, 2 national and 5 provincial research platforms, as well as a large number of scientific research instruments. All these enabled the school to provide a high-level academic environment for graduate students. |
Major Introduction |
The Chemical Engineering and Technology has the authority to grant doctor’ and master’s degrees and has been ranked in the top 20% in national discipline assessments for two consecutive times. Under its support, the disciplines of chemistry and materials have entered the top 1% in global ESI rankings. Currently, the major offers seven training directions, including Chemical Engineering, Chemical Technology, Biochemical Engineering, Applied Chemistry, Marine Materials Chemistry and Engineering, Marine Chemical Engineering and Technology, as well as Environmental Protection and Low-carbon Technology. It has a strong faculty, with many supervisors having overseas study experience. It also has excellent infrastructure and can provide students with a good learning environment. |
Educational System |
The basic study period for master’s students is 3 years, and the maximum study period is 4 years. |
Training Objectives |
The aim is to cultivate talent in the field of chemical engineering and technology who are future-oriented, world-oriented, and adaptable to the needs of national and regional economic construction and social development. The specific requirements include: (1) mastering Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, the Important Thought of Three Represents, the Scientific Outlook on Development, and Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; showing loyalty to the Party and love for the country, following the law, possessing good moral character, and maintaining a rigorous academic attitude, as well as being physically and mentally healthy; (2) possessing a solid foundation in theoretical knowledge and systematic specialized knowledge, being familiar with the domestic and international developments in their research field, and mastering modern experimental and computer skills in the discipline; (3) possessing a rigorous and realistic scientific attitude and the ability to independently conduct scientific research, teaching, or specialized technical work; (4) being able to independently engage in scientific research, teaching, product development, and management work in the specialty, and being a high-level professional and technical talent with comprehensive development in morality, intelligence, physical health, aesthetics, and labor. |
Curriculum Plan |
In the first year of graduate school, students complete the courses offered by the university and the school. In the second and third years, they work on their thesis. The topic of the graduation thesis should fall within the research scope of the discipline of chemical engineering and technology. It should possess theoretical significance or practical value, have complete content and an appropriate workload, and demonstrate a certain degree of innovation. The writing should adhere to the norms of scientific and technological papers. Prior to the defense of the thesis, it is required to pass an expert review composed by the university and the school. When conferring the degree, it is required to have at least one paper published or accepted in an EI or SCI journal as the first author (or the supervisor as the first author and the student as the second author), which is closely related to the content of the graduation thesis. |
Faculty Resources |
This degree program has a strong faculty, currently consisting of 106 master's supervisors, 38 of whom are qualified to supervise doctoral students. There are 105 teachers with doctoral degrees, and 24 of them have experience in studying abroad. The knowledge and age structure of the faculty team is reasonable. |
Employment Prospects |
This major offers broad employment prospects, with students able to work in research, production, management, and other positions in chemical-related enterprises. The graduate student can also pursue further studies. |
